Circle of Love Program and Projects We Support

1. Projects CDA Court 216 supports in time, talents and treasure:

Local: AFES Community Christmas, Holy Trinity Food Pantry
High School/Middle School Scholarships, Education Contest
Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity
Hospital Chaplain needs, St. Edmond Music Patron
Holy Trinity Parish Youth Projects, Marian Home Bingo, Informed Choices
National: Disaster Relief Fund, Habitat for Humanity
Holy Cross Rosary, National Center on Sexual Exploitation
SOAR (Supporting our Aging Religious), Laboure Society
State: Past Regents Club, Iowa CD Food Event,
Iowa Priest Education Fund

2. Leadership Committee:

a. Budget Committee – Officers, Board of Trustees
b. Board of Trustees – Regent and Past Officers
c. Yearbook Committee – History of the Court; scrapbook
d. Membership/Friendship Committee – encourage recruitment, retention
e. Program – Vice Regent plans for monthly meetings
f. Publicity – member appointed to place announcements; bulletin, newspaper, radio
g. Website – member appointed to manage Court 216 website

3. Spiritual Enhancement:

a. Sacristan – assist at Mass
b. Pall Bearers – funerals; honorary Pall Bearers
c. Memorial/Shrine – dedication to deceased members, Mary month of May ceremony
d. Marian Home Bingo – your birthday month assist the residents in playing bingo;
all are welcome to attend and help
e. Deceased Member Rosary/Wake – lead the rosary for deceased members, as many as
can attend; the family really appreciates CDA members’ attendance

4. Education

a. Education-national poetry/art contests, multiple grade levels, local, state and national placement opportunities for the students

b. Scholarships
i. One $1,000 to High School Graduate – preference to student with closest
relationship to CDA member in good standing of at least 3 years, criteria
involves an essay, GPA, ACT score, church activities/involvement, other
consideration is financial need

ii. One $500 Outstanding Catholic Female Leadership award to High School Graduate

iii. Two $500 awards to 8th graders entering St. Edmond High School

c. Lifesaver Project for Abused Women & Children
i. Candies distributed after Mass (free will donations accepted)
ii. Donations to Catholic Charities

6. Youth

a. Support retreats, trips and activities
b. Altar Server Trip

Sewn cloth bags, material is donated, stitched and corded at the top (cinch bag)
Donated hygiene products, all donated to YWCA residents seeking shelter

9. Miscellaneous

a. Our Court meets the second Thursday each month at Corpus Christi Center at
6:00 p.m. with Mass, dinner, program and business meeting to follow (no meetings in
July and August)
b. Mass is held in church the months of June (Installation of Officers) and November
(Initiation of New Members)
c. Dinner charge is $10.00 for RSVP
d. Yearly dues are $35 (includes $2 for Marian Home Bingo)
